depend on

depend onは他にも「＜…＞による」「＜…＞次第である」という意味でも非常によく使われ、何かの要因で結果が左右されるときに使われる便利な表現です。

その場合、depend on who / what / how etc. 「だれ/何/どうかによる」のように言うことができます。

また、質問に対する答えとして It / That depends 「それは状況次第だ」「時と場合による」のように答えることができます。
