“させてもらう／くれる” is used to ask permission for something you are going to do. You can also use it when you express gratitude for receiving permission.

- 丁寧な表現として「 ～させていただく／させてくださる 」が使われる。

- 明日はテストなので、アルバイトを早く 帰らせてもらいます 。
I have a test tomorrow, so I’ll be leaving my part-time job early.
- 子どもの時、ゲームを やらせてもらえませんでした 。
When I was a child, I was not allowed to play games.
