★歌でカロリー消費 海外のレストランやホテルで、バンドにリクエストすると、OK！と、一瞬、目が真剣になり、弾き始める曲が、このホテルカリフォルニア。「僕たちは、働く前にテストを受けるけど、ホテルカリフォルニアは、全員が必ず演奏できなければいけない曲のリストに入っている。」と聞いたことがあります。彼らが演奏しているうちにトランス状態になり、歌って弾いている姿を見るとカッコイイと思うわけですが、この「メロディーは知っているのに一緒に歌えないジレンマ」というのは意外と大きく、それを解消するため、一度カタカナにしてから英語を歌うという面倒なことを数十年前に始めました。それでも、一度覚えてしまうと満足感があり、喉も鍛えられて、カロリー消費も期待できる。それはそれで良いことだと思うのです。
