ビルバオのデウスト大学の本館 1962年、大学はバスク地方とスペイン全土で非常によく知られており、その元学生はビジネス、政治、文化の世界で優れていました。しかし、彼らには欠点がありました。彼らの研究は州によって公式に認められておらず、州立大学で試験を受ける必要がありました。社会は実際にはこの状況を考慮していませんでしたが、公式の承認が与えられるように行動がとられました。1962年4月5日、スペイン政府と聖座の間で、カトリック大学または教会大学に法的根拠を提供する協定が締結されました。1963年8月10日、デウスト大学は聖座から正規の承認を受けました。その年の9月にそれは法と哲学と芸術の学部（現代言語学部門）を含む国によって認められました。それ以来、学生とセンターの数は急速に増加しており、最初は500人から1，000人に、5年後には2，700人になりました。10年後、5，000人が参加し、現在は14，000人の学生に到達しています。残りの学部は、1973年の経済ビジネス科学部から始まり、1979年の計算科学部（後に工学部になりました）で終わるまで、連続して認められました。デウスト大学は、Aristos Campus Mundus 2015（ACM 2015）プロジェクトにも参加しています。
