The Wall Street Journalの報道によると、Diamond Foundryと言う、アメリカ・カリフォルニアに本社を持つラボグロウンダイヤモンド企業はシリコンマイクロチップ用の合成ダイヤモンドウェハーを製造している。

これ自体は有望な結果ではあるが、Diamond Foundryが将来的にダイヤモンドベースのチップを提供する唯一の企業であるわけではない。WSJは、CoherentやElement Sixなど、より合成しやすいヒ化ホウ素などによるウェハーを提供する他の企業も紹介している。Element Sixはさらに大きなダイヤモンドも提供しているという。
